Microwave Soap Experiment – Before |
A friend of ours told us about the Microwave Ivory Soap Experiment a few weeks ago. I was interested at first, but it took some prodding before Power Boy decided we should try this.
You know what, we had a blast completing the experiment.
So we thought we should share it with you.
All you need to complete the experiment is a microwave and a bar of Ivory soap, which you can pick up a pack of three for less than two dollars. I have been told any soap would do but we figured we should stick with the original choice.

Microwave Soap Experiment – After |
You place the bar of soap on a paper towel and in the center of the microwave. You power the microwave on high and set the timer for 2 minutes.
You should start to see the bar of soap change by the 30 second mark and should be completed by the time the 2 minutes is up. Make sure to give it a little bit of time to cool before any of the kids touch it.
We have some fun examining the remains of the bar of soap and how it changed. As an added bonus, it did give the kitchen a nice clean scent.
The clean up was easy, even for the few pieces of soap that stuck to the side of the microwave as it rotated around.
Overall, we both had fun doing this and it is something we will not soon forget.
