Hasbro and Nintendo come together to bring fans a new way to play still one of the best board games out there.
The two companies announced they will be combining their efforts to bring a new way to play an old favorite with Monopoly Gamer.
The moment we heard this, our interests were definitely peaked. We are a big fan of board games, whether they are the old favorites like Monopoly or newer ones, like the Expanse.
The game will play like the original except for one feature, each character token will have their own unique Power-up ability. Not sure what this means?
Say for example you land on Super Star board space, it will activate Princess Peach’s Super Star ability ability to collect rent from the bank. You will be able to activate their special power to boost the Power-up die.
This newest twist on the game is going to involve a learning curve and will take some time to see if it makes the game any more interesting.
The suggested retail price for the standard game is $24.99 and will be available August 2017. If you want to Collector’s Edition you will have to spend a few more dollars. Don’t forget about picking up those Power Tokens which will be available in Power Packs fro $2.99.
On the positive side, it will be fun to get the chance to play characters like Mario, Bowesr, or Yoshi.
We like the concept of combining some of the features of Nintendo games with the tokens but it might end up costing you an extra $10-$20 as you search for specific tokens.
We are in a wait and see mode on whether we will be picking it up.
