Smackdown needs to rebound in a big way this weekend with WWE’s next PPV event.
Fans of the Tuesday show have been curious to see where things are going and the 2017 Battleground event could go a long way in helping them.
Great Balls of Fire was a decent PPV event but can the Blue Brand bounce back from Money in the Bank. The word around the web is no titles will be changing hands at this event, but we do not see it that way.
As always, he two of us are far from experts and just enjoy trying to figure out what WWE is going to do next.
On to the our 2017 Battleground Predictions.
Aiden English vs. Tye Dillinger
The pre-show match is features the 10 versus the man who is on the outs without his former partner. Dillinger should take this match as English has become a punching bag recently.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Baron Corbin
The MIB winner takes on the new face on Smackdown. These two contrasting styles has a chance to make this an unforgettable match. But in the end we think it will be a lackluster one with Nakamura earns a win. This will lead Corbin to making a bigger impact later in the night.
# 1 Contender Fatal Five Way
Five women will enter the ring but only one is going to come out on top. Each one has a chance to earn the spot to fight Naomi for the title at Summerslam, but in reality there are only 2 choices. Lana has had her chance recently and Natalya is there to fill the match. Charlotte is the safe choice but we think they will save her for Wrestlemania. It leaves us with Becky and Tamina. We would prefer Becky but could see Tamina getting some love and have her chance at the title in August.
John Cena va Rusev (Flag Match)
This one has been done before so there is not much to say here. Cena will win before he moves on to a match against Mahal for Summerslam.
The Usos vs the New Day (Tag Team Championship)
These two meet again after the lackluster MIB match and we do not expect the same results. The Usos have been fine champions but new blood is needed in the division. New Day would be a fresh voice on Smackdown Who, who will be the champs? New Day.
AJ Styles vs Kevin Owens (US Championship)
This is the true match of the night when the champ, Styles, defends his title against Owens. We like how Styles won it at a house show and we don’t think the creative minds at WWE are going to strip him of it. This will force a decisive match for these too at the upcoming Summerslam.
Jinder Mahal vs Randy Orton (WWE Championship Punjabi Prison)
This is a feud we need to see end one way or the other by the end of the event. Mahal has been meh as the champion but so has Orton. Even though the Singh brothers will find a way to get involved, we see Orton coming out as the champ. That is until Corbin sneaks in and cashes in.
