The WWE creative team focuses on the Red team this week as they try to bring some excitement to an event with no Universal title on the line.
The Raw brand is trying to right what feels like a sinking ship as they take center stage this weekend with the 2017 Extreme Rules PPV event.
Hopefully you were more entertained with the last PPV event, Backlash, than we were. The lack of a Universal title match is a bummer indeed.
As always, we are by no means experts in the wrestling world but we do love trying to predict what the creative team will do.
On to our 2017 Extreme Rules predictions.
Swann/Banks vs Dar/Fox
The latest matched added to the PPV event proves to have the least interest and will serve more as a way to keep Banks relevant. They are hoping the Boss’ involvement with Swann will help keep the 205 division moving forward. This will end badly for Dar & Fox.
Neville vs Austin Aries (Cruiserweight Title)
Neville is still the top of his game as he remains the king of the cruiserweight division while the rest of it flounders. Aries has been a thorn in his side for sure. The pair have had some solid matches since Wrestlemania 33. Look for Aries to earn the title this weekend.
Sheamus/Cesaro vs The Hardy Boyz (Tag Team Title)
The heelish pair of Sheamus and Cesaro have ramped things up against the champions which has resulted in a steel cage match. WWE fans will get to see if the Boyz can still bring it inside the metal cage. Look for the champs to lose the belts and push Matt further along to a more broken side of sorts.
Dean Ambrose vs The Miz (Intercontinental Title)
Ambrose and the Miz have rekindled their feud over the title and have been a very entertaining pair. We do like the twist in the match. If Ambrose is disqualified in any fashion, he will lose the title. The Miz will do his best trickery to outsmart the Lunatic Fringe but in the end it will not be enough.
Alexa Bliss vs Bayley (Women’s Title)
Bliss has taken RAW by storm since making the switch from Smackdown. There is no doubt she is great on the mic but her ring work needs some help. Which is why the Kendo stick on a pole is perfect. We do love the Hugster but it will be hard to deny Bliss as she makes a successful title defense.
Fatal Five Way for # 1 Contender Universal Title
The match has some definite interest based on the contender. Despite their star quality, we do not see anything big happening for Rollins, Reigns, or Wyatt. The match will end up being between Samoa Joe or Finn Balor. We would prefer to see Balor to earn the win, but since the winner has little chance against Lesnar, look for Joe to earn a win.
