Our Review of SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water

Power Boy and I had a chance to see the SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water over winter break. This is first movie off our list of 2015 Must See Movies.

We wanted to share our thoughts on what it brought to the big screen and if it lived up to our expectations.

On the positive side, we did like the change of pace with the movie when it came to breaking away from the standard cartoon look. It was refreshing to see the characters fleshed out in the human world. It would have been nice if they could have explored it a bit more.

Also we did dig it when the main characters were given super powers. Power Boy dug Bubbletastic (aka SpongeBob) and I liked Sour Note (aka Squidward).

On the negative side, we were a bit put off by the lack of secondary characters from the cartoon series not showing up until the end credits, like Mrs. Puff or Larry the Lobster.

The musical numbers were a big miss with us this time around. Normally we do like some of the catchy tunes they put out in the shows, but none were working for us this time.

Unless you have a diehard young one who wants to see this and you can’t distracted them, we would recommend waiting until it comes to DVD.
