Sega Game Gear Micro Is Missing the Boat

Game Gear Micro

The newest retro mini game device on the block.

Sega is releasing the Game Gear Micro to celebrate the anniversary of their more popular mobile gaming devices that is sure to open people’s wallets.

Sure Sonic is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Sega. But don’t expect to play him on every version they are releasing.

There will be four different retro devices to purchase and each one will have a set of four games.

Black Version

  • Sonic the Hedgehog, Puyo Puyo 2, OutRun, Royal Stone

Blue Version

  • Sonic & Tails, Gunstar Heroes, Sylvan Tale, Baku Baku Animal

Red Version

  • Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible, Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special, The GG Shinobi, Columns

Yellow Version

  • Shining Force Gaiden, Shining Force Gaiden 2, Shining Force Gaiden Final Conflict, Nazo Puyo Arle no Roux

This Game Gear really is micro. I know we have gotten used to playing games on our phones, but this is even smaller. Honestly we do not think the micro size is the real problem with this.

Rather the problem we see with this is you only get four games for each one. If you want access to all sixteen games, then you need to buy them all.

Sega missed the mark here. They would have been better off making one slightly larger and adding a few more games to ti. They have not released it for the Western Market so things may change.

Especially if the sales do not go as planned.

What do you think of the Game Gear Micro by Sega?
