The Star Wars saga has come to an end, but it come full circle.
Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker stormed into theaters this weekend but was there enough there in the final installment to satisfy all fans.
This polarizing first to movies of this trilogy has drawn it’s fair share of love and hate. We can see both sides and have been there as well. Despite this, there was no way we were going to ignore this movie.
On to our spoiler free the Rise of Skywalker review.
The character arc for Kylo Ren works for the trilogy. After our first exposure to him in the Force Awakens, we were unsure of him. We have grown to like the strongest character in the series.
The movie did fan service but it was done the right way. There are certain callback from the previous films but in ways that made sense.
There are a couple of surprises in the movie that we did like. Most of them were on the Rebel side, but the Empire has a few choice ones.
There are a few negatives with the movie with the following two biggest ones.
One of the biggest things we have a gripe with is the ending. The ending is okay but they had the chance to make it special. Had they gone with the initial end, the movie would have been a home run.
Another thing that bugged us had to do with Rey and Finn. There was a scene toward the beginning of the movie that never resolved itself. It appears to be a decent side plot but it looked like they ran out of time to address it.
If you are a fan of either trilogies, it is still worth it to see the final movie on the big screen. There is something there for everyone to find redeeming in it.
