Wahooooo???
The Super Mario Bros Movie opened this week and there was no denying the fact that we were excited for it.
When we were putting together a list of 2023 Movies to See, this one a definite one. Did we think it would dominate the box office? Perhaps. Did we think it would be better than the first live action movie of it? Definitely.
On to our spoiler free movie review.
It was hard not to sit through the movie without a smile on your face. Maybe it is seeing some of the different easter eggs or just the reaction of others seeing the movie. This movie connects people with their childhood and it was amassing to see it.
Jack Black as Bowser is perfect.
We did like seeing original character changes, like a Fire Version that has not been used before.
Oh, loved hearing the DK Rap.
There were a few things which felt lackluster with the movie.
The plot was average. While we did not expect The LEGO Movie plot, we had hoped for a little more. Perhaps this was Nintendo getting their feet wet and it will open up with the sequel.
Some of the songs used throughout the movie have popped up in other films in the last few years. It would have been nice to see different ones.
In the end, we enjoyed the movie and everything it offered. If you are a fan of the Sonic movies, you will enjoy this beautifully animated ones.
While it is nice to check it out on the big screen, you would not be missing out by waiting until it is streaming.
