WWE has been active since the split of talent between Raw and Smackdown, but does that mean things will be better for the upcoming Summerslam?
The second biggest WWE event of the year is less than a week away, which means it is time for our Summerslam 2016 predictions.
Things have been a mixed bag since WWE had their draft and split the talent between Raw and Smackdown. It has been nice to see both shows go in their directions in terms of programming. We do wonder what will happen if the injury bug strikes like last time. Who knows if the changes will stick.
As with our previous predictions, like Battleground, we are not experts. JG13 Gamer and I have fun doing this so we hope you enjoy our Summerslam 2016 Predictions.
The Miz v. Apollo Crews Intercontinental Match
Apollo has been making some headway on Smackdown and could be a good change of pace for the title. The Miz will retain this time around thanks to some interference but don’t expect him to hold onto to it too long.
Sasha Banks v. Charlotte WWE Woman’s Championship
The title run of the Boss has been a refreshing change and we would like to see it continue. The problem is Charlotte tends to have help, even when they are barred from the ring. We think Ric Flair will show up but will not help his daughter. The Boss will retain.
Rusev v. Roman Reigns US Championship Match
Rusev is his best when working as a heel and this feel like the right spot for Reigns right now. The champ is going to secure a cheap win and continue to fuel future matches.
Enzo/Big Cass v. Chris Jericho / Kevin Owens
Not much is on the line with this tag team match but we expect to see an entertaining one. Enzo and Jericho have been going head to head on the microphone. KO is still steam about being picked late in the draft and Cass is just big. There is nothing to be gained from a Jericho/ KO win so don’t expect it.
Randy Orton v. Brock Lesnar
This match has been interesting, including the cross promotion on the shows. Lesnar should win but think Orton is going to earn a hard fought one. The powers to be know Lesnar does not need a win to progress towards a title shot.
John Cena v. AJ Styles
While all things point to a Cena win, we think this match will be the last for the two as Styles moves on the bigger things. Like a title shot against Ambrose. Styles sneaks away with a win.
New Day v. Anderson & Gallows WWE Tag Team Match
No Big E means trouble for Kofi and Xavier. They need to keep Anderson and Gallows relevant so they are going to put an end to the title run of New Day.
Dean Ambrose v. Dolph Ziggler WWE Championship Match
We have been enjoying the title run for Ambrose, thinking it has been long over due. We were a bit perplexed by the Ziggler push unless it was because other key players are tied up. Since it seems to be the case, Ambrose will retain the title and continue to be the face of Smackdown.
Seth Rollings v. Finn Balor WWE Universal Championship
If anyone thought Roman Reigns would not be here, please raise your hand. Instead we are being treated to Rollins against the top dog from NXT Balor. The WWE universe is going to be happy no matter which way this turns out. The way things are going, we expect to see Balor holding the WWE Universal Championship belt.
